Dave Marsh Track Frame

March 16, 2007

Picked up my new Dave Marsh Track Frame, was my first chance to take some photos today. Roberto kindly collected the bike for me from Manchester. I bought it from Phillip Ingham who works for British Cycling. It came as a complete setup bike with some really cool parts, but I just put my Mavics, Ergostem, Miche seatpost and Icaselle saddle on for the pictures. The Miche Cranks and unbranded headset came with the bike.

I rode it for a few days, but its a touch too big for me at 56cm. Its mint and looks fantastic, although I’m not too sure whether I will keep it or not. Some nice offers please! Anyway I’ve gone back to my Tommy Godwin, which just rides like a dream.

Crazy Motor-paced racing. Big gears high speed. Really loud and exhilarating.  This form of track racing is extremely popular on the continent with the contestants from germany belgium holland and france.  There was one brit Bryan Taylor who unfortunately couldn’t keep up with the pace set by his european compatriots.  Apparently his bike was not set up to the usual set up he raced with before.

Locked-Up Bike Spotted

March 10, 2007

Lovely “Lauer” spotted on Long Lane near the junction to Aldersgate Road in Farringdon.  Mint condition, kitted out with Italian parts, beautiful!  I really liked the tri-striped Benotto handlebar tape, a nice touch.

Messenger Bags on a catwalk in Paris?? Track Bike culture is huge! This bag is made by Jun Takahashi of the brand UNDERCOVER. ピスト culture is huge in japan. Check out the archives of Hiroshi Fujiwara’s blog on honeyee. He also designed a bike from his “fragment design” company. Check it!

White bikes seem to be hot right now. I have got mine on order, will set it up as soon as I get it and post some pics soon. Watch this space.

A street KEIRIN race in Yoyogi park, dubbed YOYOGI MILLION NIGHTRACE, another vid below.

Carnival a bike shop in Tokyo did a collab with japanese skateboard company T-19 and made a DVD called “Street Life” watch a preview here. Also the full version DVD is out in japan, so if someone wants to get one for me, that would be lovely.

Nike Air Force 1 Bike

March 8, 2007

Wow! Check out this bike handmade by Ben Wilson Design, part of the AF1 ‘Silver Service’ installation at Comme des Garcon’s London store Dover Street Market.

Ben Wilson Design made the Honda Zoomer for Stussy some time back. Great Stuff!

Go and have a look soon.

Here is how they made it.

Iku was going to work near Holloway Road and I tagged along for the ride. The office faces the Arsenal Emirates Stadium, so the noise can probably heard on match days. Speaking of match days, when Arsenal had a game the other day, I think they lost. Some of the fans often walk back down Liverpool Road on their way towards Angel. You can definitely tell if they won or lost by their attitudes, oh boy…. so depressed.
